Sometimes sorrow is an inspiration. Maybe I'm wishing for my husband to feel the comfort he once had. I'm feeling the grief of a family.
The photograph was taken circa 1984. Single parenting years. I focus on Josh's hands. This twelve year old already has hands as large as his father's. He will use them well.

Shiny and New
Day One. Trying a blog to share art, happenings, musings. To be in touch. (?) Artwork: Come Play With Us. 2011. Created for a design challenge with parameters of using 1) creepy girl/cat(s) and 2) a ginormous manila tag. Had to be Halloween-themed.
Obviously inspired by the shining. Antiqued the manuscript 'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy' and used Rock Candy Distress paint over to give a frozen-ice appearance. Found vintage key which says 'master'. Vintage blank film strip on edging. Hard to see, but crow is embossed on frayed-edge muslin with tiny red paint splatters (those kitties do love to play with birds...) A new technique - outlining objects (cats) with water-soluable crayon and 'painting' over with acrylic glazing liquid - softer fuzzy hue.
